I was at my moms house. As we talked we noticed several flies buzzing around. She got out the swatter to start killing them. She told me to go pick the dead’s ones up as she continued looking for more. I grabbed a paper towel but when I looked down I saw they were honey bees not flies. I started panicking and crying; “mom, stop! They are bees!! We can’t kill the bees!” I was sobbing. She said if they were in her house she needed to kill them. I was begging her not to kill them and felt wracked with guilt for the ones already dead. I looked at one that had been dead and it started to squirm. She ran over to hit it with the swatter but I pleaded for her to let it live. I’ll put it outside I said. I turned to grab something and the bee that had been dead turned into a small child. I cried and cried. She wanted to get rid of the child somehow but I said “please let me take care of her!!!” Fine she huffed but she wanted nothing to do with it. I called the child to my arms and held her as I cried.
Your dream is rich with symbolism and seems to tap into emotions surrounding responsibility, protection, and guilt. Here’s a detailed interpretation of the dream:
Mom's House: Being in your mom's house suggests a return to a place of comfort, familiarity, or childhood. It may reflect your current feelings of seeking comfort or support from family, or it could highlight familial relationships.
Flies to Bees: Flies generally represent nuisance or trivial problems, but their transformation into bees symbolizes a shift from annoyance to something of importance and value. Bees are crucial pollinators and are often seen as symbols of community, hard work, and diligence. The transition from flies to bees could indicate that what initially felt like a minor issue or distraction actually has deeper significance or value.
Killing and Mourning: The act of killing the bees against your wishes symbolizes conflict about actions taken by others that you disagree with or have ethical concerns about. Your distress and guilt over the bees being killed reflect strong feelings about preserving something valuable and precious. In waking life, this may be associated with a struggle over maintaining values or protecting vulnerable aspects of yourself or others that you care deeply about.
The Rebirthed Bee: The bee that begins to squirm back to life represents hope and the potential for revival or redemption. This could suggest optimism in resolving inner guilt or reparation for perceived wrongs.
Bee to Child Transformation: This symbolizes transformation and the emergence of new life or possibilities through care and empathy. The child represents innocence, potential, and new responsibilities. Your desire to protect the child displays instincts towards nurturing, protecting, and taking responsibility for something you view as precious or needing care.
Conflict with Mother: Your mother’s attitude towards the bees and later the child reflects possible tension or differing perspectives regarding responsibility and empathy in your waking life. This may mirror real-life dynamics with your mother or another authority figure where compromise and understanding may need exploration.
Crying and Holding the Child: Crying indicates a release of pent-up emotions and a deep feeling of empathy, while holding the child signifies a commitment to protection and nurture. This part of the dream reaffirms your strong emotional connection and dedication to what the child represents.
Overall, this dream can speak to feelings of guilt or conflict over protecting what you feel is important, a strong desire to preserve life and nurture, and possibly dealing with differing perspectives on responsibility and care within your relationships. It might suggest a need to address these feelings or conflicts in your waking life, seeking compromise or understanding with others, or finding peace with your own values and actions.
